Where does my swimmer belong?

The swimmer is a beginner who may or may not be comfortable putting their face in the water while blowing bubbles. In this level, swimmers will learn to feel more comfortable in the water, while practicing water safety skills such as: how to get in and out of the pool safely, floating with support, gliding with support, blowing bubbles, and fully submerging swimmer’s faces. Ages 2+

The swimmer is comfortable with their face in the water while blowing bubbles and can safely enter/exit the pool. In this level, swimmers will work with their instructor to independently float on their front and back, roll (front to back and back to front) to breathe and glide in the water.

The swimmer can roll to breathe. The swimmer is extremely comfortable in the water and can able to swim the width of the pool independently (with rolls). At this level, swimmers will build on their knowledge of swimming by beginning to learn Backstroke, Freestyle, and Dolphin Kick.

The swimmer is able to swim Freestyle and Backstroke the width of the pool independently. The instructor will focus on increasing the distance swimmers can swim while spending the majority of the lesson in the deep end of the pool. In this level, swimmers will learn rotary breathing for Freestyle as well as learning Breaststroke and Butterfly.

The swimmer must know all four strokes for this level (must be able to swim 25 yards). At this level, swimmers will fine-tune their stroke technique and build endurance. Swimmers will swim the length of the pool regularly and work on the wall turns and dives.

The swimmer must be able to swim all four strokes effortlessly (at least 50 yards for Backstroke and Freestyle and 25 yards for Breaststroke and Butterfly) as well as demonstrate flip turns and dives. At this level, swimmers will work to build their stamina with longer distances. Turns, dives, and stroke mechanics will be emphasized to encourage a lifetime of swimming.
