PROFESSIONAL—Todd Ward
Todd was born in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. Played
sectional tennis tournaments and qualified for National tournaments as a
junior. Achieved a degree in economics at Miami University, in Oxford
Ohio where he played four years on the varsity Tennis team; captain for
two of those years.
Todd worked out of college at the Johns Island Club and
Riomar Bay Yacht Club in Vero Beach, Florida. Working alongside Tom
Fish, father of Mardy Fish, Todd tutored Mardy in his early years as he
once had a top 20 ATP ranking.
Down in Florida Todd played some pro tournaments having wins over two
NCAA winners and several wins over top 100 players in the world on the
doubles circuit.
After two years in Florida, Todd worked as the assistant tennis pro in
his first year and took over the Director of Tennis in his second year
at the Cincinnati Country Club where he Directed of Tennis and Paddle
programs for 21 years.
Some accomplishments at the Cincinnati Country Club:
Developed all tennis and paddle programming and tournaments
from scratch
Grew tennis players from 125 to over 300
Grew both ladies tennis/ paddle teams from two to 5 teams
Developed and coached nearly a dozen junior Ohio State Tennis Champions
Developed and coached over two dozen kids that played College tennis.
Todd also taught and played paddle tennis throughout the country. He
became a board member of the American Platform Tennis Association in
2004 where he initiated the clinics and exhibitions aspect of the APTA.
During his tenure with the APTA, he taught over 2500 people throughout
the country. During these clinics Todd also would educate the local pros
on developing better knowledge of the game, how to teach it and how to
promote it within their community.
Todd hosted the APTA Nationals in Cincinnati in 2009. Raising over 130K
in sponsorships, and hosting over 300 players for both Men and Women
from all over the country.
Todd’s paddle tennis playing accomplishments are; 4-time top 10 National
ranking, ranked as high as #4 in the country in 2006.
Todd looks forward to moving his wife Lindy and three kids to Bozeman,
Montana. Todd’s knowledge and experience in the tennis and paddle
industry will enhance and grow the racquet sports at the Riverside
Country Club into the finest club in the state of Montana.
